Convert your loft
Do you need more bedrooms? Or perhaps a home office? Turning your loft into additional living accommodation could add one or two more bedrooms as well as another WC and shower room to your home. Permissions
A box or ‘full width’ rear dormer and a ‘hip to gable’ can significant increase the space you can create in your loft but the extent and the amount by which you can extend you loft under Permitted Development rights (without the need to apply for planning permission) will depend upon the type and status of your home.
The loft in a freehold house or a bungalow will usually have the greatest loft development potential. A loft conversion in a flat or to a property in a conservation area or a National Park is highly likely to require planning approval. Conversion of a loft in a listed building will always require planning approval and Listed Building Consent.
All loft conversions and any associated structural alterations will require Building Regulations approval
